Just 8 of us returned to the South Coast for a 3 day visit which, unfortunately, clashed with the Club C'ships at Port Kembla thereby reducing the field a touch. John Vallins, touring for the 39th time having started on The Murray way back in '97, won the Tour Champion's title for the first time with an average of 33 points.
The accommodation at the Quest Apartments in Nowra was excellent and so was the food in the small café on the ground floor where we ate breakfast each day and dinner on Saturday night. On Sunday night we dined at Club Nowra and enjoyed possibly the best Chinese food I have tasted.
The golf was excellent and the weather superb - sunny, no wind or rain and temperature during the day around 23 degrees so no excuses for some poor scoring by some of us.
All three courses were in great condition. We played in the comp at St Georges Basin on the Saturday but Sunday and Monday were 'Hackers Rules. The courses are pretty straight forward and most enjoyable. I would return to all three again without hesitation but, in my opinion, the Shoalhaven Heads layout is the most testing of the three.
