Just 4 Hackers ventured to Yarrawonga in mid-winter arriving on Monday, 12th June for 3 games of golf; 2 at the new Black Bull and 1 at Yarrawonga Murray.

Black Bull - has not long been open for the full 18 holes and the Peter Thompson designed links style course boasts generous well grassed couch fairways, no trees, lots of excellent bunkering in the usual Thompson style and little water of consequence. The greens ran very true and although quick, were not as quick as the Murray course at Yarrawonga.

At 6098 metres from the blue tees, it is a really good golf course and a solid test for any skill level - even in the benign conditions we had for the three days. Highly recommended.

Yarrawonga Murray - most Hackers are familiar with this great course and it was up to its usual very high standards. The greens were very quick and the ball rolled right out to make putting and chipping a real challenge. The massive trees have not grown smaller and accuracy is essential to keep the ball in play. Not much else to say about this one except that it is always a super experience although it did take us 15 minutes short of 5 hours to get around in carts.

Accommodation at the Paradise Palms motel is very good although we didn't test the swimming pool while we were there and the food in the hotel next door was very good.

Full scores don't matter but we did throw in $10 each day for a 4B match play and single stableford event just between ourselves and, whilst the 4B money was shared around, John Vincent took home the biscuits each day in the singles.

On the social side we created a first for the Hackers on this tour when we won the Trivia Quiz and correctly answered the bonus question to pick up $100 in vouchers at the Mulwala Services Club on the last night in town. We managed to spend it in the club, exclusively on red wine, before we left.
