| 15 players travelled to the excellent Shoalhaven Heads golf club (course number 102 we have visited) on Saturday 27/5, for a 1 day visit after John Killin was unfortunately forced to withdraw at the absolute last minute. The weather was just superb and the course in excellent condition and is a very good test of golf - tight fairways, often with trouble on both sides - particularly on the back nine - excellent bunkering and, although not really long, it has huge greens with subtle rolls.
However it just might favour left-handers as John Vincent took the major prizemoney with 35 points and Terry Ardouin edged out Phil Sheppard on a count-back with 34 points for runner-up. It certainly doesn't favour those who consistently hit it right-to-left as at least one of our number found out.
A great day very much enjoyed by all and I'm sure we'll pay a return visit in the not too distant future. |
