The 2 day return to Riverside Oaks was another successful weekend. Both courses were in great condition with superb fairways. The greens on Bungool haven't come back quite as quickly as those on Gungurru but both were very good - although some of us had great difficulty reading them. I, for one, waited until the 32nd hole before getting a one putt green and had eight 3 putt greens overall.
The weather was spectacularly good with little or no wind, about 24 degrees and sunshine both days.
The accommodation is excellent and the only complaint we had was that the air conditioning in the clubhouse was too cold for comfort and they closed the bar at 8:30pm on Saturday night with a captive audience and nowhere to go. We strongly suspect that another group of young guys may have been the main cause of that decision but to make it worse there was no warning given - they just closed the bar and gave no opportunity to buy take-away for the rooms, although some of us did find out just before the close and managed to get some supplies to fuel a less than superb level of fitness next morning.
The scores were, with only a couple of exceptions, really quite poor for guys with our experience and we had no excuses. Killer had a great round on Saturday to take out the major prize with 37 points but just 3 of us managed to get to 30 points on the Sunday.
Caroline Cross was the big winner taking home $161 all up with some big skins whilst Trevor Gough, going into the tour with an injury, finally succumbed on the 11th hole on Sunday and retired hurt.
Full scores and details attached.
