Putting your name down for a tour is only the first step – it doesn’t get you a start.
You can only lock in your spot by payment of a minimum deposit. The required deposit is $200 (unless otherwise advised) and guarantees your spot on the tour. The time of receipt of the minimum deposit determines the order of acceptance.
NOTE - Reserves named for any tour are listed in priority order on the finance sheet according to i) the time of receipt of the minimum deposit; or ii) in order of time of nomination if the minimum deposit has not been received.
It means a commitment from you and funds to pay deposits etc. and it also determines who goes and who misses out; no feelings of unfair treatment and no favouritism because it is your choice when you pay and, first in best dressed.
Your deposit will only be retained if you withdraw from a tour and a replacement is not found. It may then be used to persuade someone to take your place at a discount or to cover any additional cost caused by a late change in arrangements.
